Swami Vivekananda represented India at a time when everyone abroad thought poorly about India and its Culture. He was a magnificent man dressed in a Saffron robe and a guided turban that made him the center of attraction among the rest of the crowd of white people. Yes! Such is the dignity of the Hindu Monk who silenced the world with his immortal speech at the Parliament of Religion in 1893 at Chicago.

Everyone knows him like that but no one actually knows the penetrating struggle behind that success! Today on the 12th of November 2020 in the ground of JNU, which is always tainted by the anti-national slogans and other slogans that create havoc everywhere. But, today the tall statue of Swami Vivekananda is bound to provide enough source of energy and potential to the Youth of JNU.

Swami Vivekananda was known as Narendra Nath Dutta. He was a very well-educated child and the beloved of his parents. His accomplishments were not confined to studies only but to various other pursuits of Arts, Literature, Music, etc. He was motivated by the Brahmos of Bengal like the “Celebrated Tagore Family”, Keshav Chandra Sen, Shyamacharan Bhattacharya, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, etc.

But that was not enough for him. He was going through some inner turmoil that was spiritual in nature. Wandering here and there with no hope; he finally opted for a mystic named Ramakrishna Paramhansa of Dakhineshwar. That’s how he was transformed from a young and intelligent boy to Swami Vivekananda. The outstanding thoughts and teachings of Ramakrishna Paramhansa surprised the young Narendra. He was in total awe and after prolonged Visits at Dakhineshwar, Narendra made him his Master.

Together, they provide the best example of a teacher and an Ideal Student. It was their vision to take India to a level that would leave the Westerners in Surprise. It was extremely tough, especially after the death of Narendranath’s Father. The family was in a financial crisis and in that situation Vivekananda made a group of Volunteers who followed the principles of Truth and Spirituality. After living in an old broken house in Calcutta; Narendranath went out on a spiritual journey all alone starting from the Himalayas to Kanyakumari.

He had numerous experiences that made him strong and sentimental. One instance is sharing his food with a low born and accepting the services of a prostitute who wanted to fan him, etc. His Next destination was for the world to observe the strength of India. His contributions brought back many Europeans and Americans to India like Margaret Elizabeth Noble.

We celebrate Youth Day, honoring Swami Vivekananda on 12th January every year. But more than 70% of Indians besides in West Bengal, have no idea about him. Whereas, he is praised all over the world for his advanced Knowledge in ModernVedanta, Philosophy, Science, etc. Together we need to consolidate the dream of a modern India by walking in the footsteps of a Hindu monk who silenced the world with his Wisdom in Vedanta.
